Jewelry Box to Sun Catcher

Over the past year my husband and I have collected quite a few treasures from parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents!  So the next few projects will probably involve some of those items, and bringing them back to life.

First up is an old jewelry box.  It was one of those items that once I saw it I could not stop thinking about it.  I thought who's dresser has this sat on, what did they put in it, was it a gift or did they get it for themselves.

But life with two kids under the age of 4, some how it got broken.

It has a hinge, so all I did was grab a pair of pliers and pull out the small rod that hinged the top to the box.

Next I found some black embroidery thread, small medium thickness and a sewing needle that would fit through the two holes that the pin was in.

 Thread the needle double thickness.

Pull it through both holes the pin was in.

Make it the desired length and tie a simple knot at the top.  Pick a sunny window and hang it up.  I hung mine from the window lock.

Wouldn't it look pretty to have a different sun catcher in each window?  I would love to see what you guys come up with-get out there find things that need life and give them some love.  Show me your sun catchers!
